Poutine Gravy
Ingredients- 8 oz Boiling/Hot Water
- 3 Tbsp Salted Butter
- 2 1/2 Tbsp Flour (Wheat or Rice)
- 1 1/2 tsp Wyler’s Beef Bouillon Powder
- 1/2 tsp Thyme Leaves
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/8 tsp Spanish Paprika (Smoked isn’t as good, unfortunately)
- In a small bowl, mix the Beef Bouillon Powder, Thyme Leaves, Ground Black Pepper, Kosher Salt, Garlic Powder, and the Spanish Paprika.
- Heat 8 oz of water in a measuring cup. (We’ll need to pour 2 oz at a time)
- In a small to medium size pan, melt the 3 Tbsp of Salted Butter over low heat.
- Once the butter has been melted, add 2 Tbsp Flour (the last 1/2 Tbsp of Flour will be added soon), constantly mixing with a fork until it turns an almond brown color.
- We’ll add 4 oz of the Hot Water to the roux, and mix until we have a paste
- We’ll now add the other 1/2 Tbsp Flour and mix it in.
- Add in another 2 oz of Hot Water, then add in the seasonings.
- Once the seasonings have been mix in, we’ll add our last 2 oz of Hot Water
- You now have gravy! Pour over fries and cheese.
You can add another 2 oz of Hot Water to make the gravy a little thinner, it does come out of the pan fairly thick. Also feel free to add a little extra Kosher Salt, maybe another 1/8 to 1/4 tsp.
